Business Migration

Overview

Business skill visas are suitable for individuals who:

- are owners of a business, or senior executives of a business; or
- have a substantial business/investment background, and are willing to make a substantial investment in Australian securities.

Eligibility requirements

1. Business owner

- overall successful business career
- net assets of at least $200,000 in the business
- annual turnover of at least $500,000
- combined assets of applicant and spouse must be at least $500,000
- under 45 years of age

2. Senior executive

- overall successful business career
- combined net assets of at least $500,000
- for at least 2 out of the previous 4 years, occupied a position in the 3 highest levels of the management structure of a major business.
- under 45 years of age

3. Investor

- successful record of investment or business activity
- minimum of 3 years direct involvement managing a business or eligible investment
- for at least 1 of the previous 5 years:
      a. maintained direct involvement in managing a business in which the applicant had at least 10% ownership; or
      b. maintained direct involvement in managing eligible investments, total value being minimum $1,500,000
- in the previous 2 years, combined (applicant and spouse) net value of personal and business assets was $2,250,000
- under 45 years of age

Entitlements

If successful, the applicant will be granted a provisional visa in their respective category (business owner/senior executive/investor).

If certain conditions are met (minimum turnover, time requirement, etc), the applicant will be eligible to apply for a permanent visa of the same category.
